Why Study at AUCB?

We’re special because we’re specialist.

AUCB is one of only fifteen higher education institutions in the UK devoted solely to the study of art, design and media. The University College has been providing specialist education for over a century and enjoys a strong reputation, both nationally and internationally.

The University College is a compact institution with nearly 3,000 students based on one campus. We are a creative community where both staff and students share a commitment to the disciplines of art, design, media and performance.

Studying at AUCB presents many opportunities to engage with the creative spirit that characterises life at the University College. Students and staff work in partnership on an innovative programme of professional practice and research, with different disciplines encouraged to work together. Our academics are experienced practitioners in the creative industries sector who focus on preparing you for a career within your chosen field.

The creative industries are among Britain’s most successful industries and employability is a key feature of our courses. The University College (as the Arts Institute at Bournemouth) was rated 4th in the UK for graduate employment by the Times Higher Educational Supplement (July 2008).

AUCB places great importance on student involvement and there are many ways to become involved in University College activities, through our system of student representation, and the Students’ Union. Our European Exchange programme can also offer exciting opportunities to study abroad as part of your course.

Whichever course you decide to study, you’ll be part of a vibrant creative community in one of the country’s leading specialist University Colleges.
