Child Care
If you have young children and are thinking about studying at AUCB you will need to consider what childcare options are available. Make sure you research all the alternatives before making your decision, bearing in mind what suits you and your child’s needs best.
The main types of childcare include:
Day Nurseries- provide care for children from birth to school age, sometimes beyond if integrated with early education.
Crèches-
provide occasional care for children under 8 years old.
Preschools and
Playgroups- provide playtime and often
early education to under fives.
Out of school or ‘Kids’
Clubs- offer school age children a safe
and stimulating environment in which they can play and learn
outside of school hours.
Nannies-
provide childcare in your own home and can look after children of
any age.
Child
Minders- usually look after children
under 12 in the child minder’s own home and often collect
school-aged children from a nearby school.
How can I find out about local
Childcare?
Your local Children’s Information Service
(CIS) can advise you on the options available in your
area. This service provides information and advice on
childcare, education and other children’s services. For
information about childcare options in the local area please take a

This website will enable you to search for immediate vacancies locally. The website is funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), the Scottish Executive and the National Assembly for Wales as part of their national childcare strategies. Are there any child care facilities here at
AUCB?
We don’t have any childcare facilities on campus. However, you can
use the Talbot Woods Day Nursery which is situated within the
Student Centre on Bournemouth University Talbot Campus and is
managed in partnership with Bournemouth University.

In terms of cost, a full day (9.5 hours) would be £37.29, a morning session is £26.25 and an afternoon session is £18.96. For more information on costs and waiting lists please contact the day nursery directly.
