Choosing a Career

Choosing a career a course or job can raise a number of questions:

Am I doing the best thing?

How will my choices now affect me in the future?

Will I be happy?

Will I earn a lot of money?

Does this job have good prospects?

As we can't predict the future, the answers to such questions will always be imprecise. However, there are things you can do to help you plan your future with more confidence. Some of these are summarised below.

What do you enjoy?

It certainly helps if you enjoy your job as you will probably spend a large proportion of your life working. Think about aspects of working life such as work patterns, whether you prefer to work primarily alone or in a team, dealing with customers or working more with things.  How do you want to express your creativity? What aspects of a job are of most important to you, what lifestyle do you want to lead?

There are many things to consider.
