Whats it like to live in Halls?
Living in halls is often seen as an integral part of the “university experience” but in fact it can be one of the most challenging! With up to 50 students residing in one building it is far from quiet and the novelty of storing all your belongings in one small room, and of sharing a communal kitchen, can quickly wear off. Our on campus halls have no communal lounge areas and whilst “corridor parties” may seem like a good idea, there are strict rules about noise and behaviour. We operate a system of “collective responsibility” and the cost of any damages will be divided between all users unless individual responsibility can be clearly identified.
However, living in halls does have its advantages – it’s a great way to meet other students from all over the world and to make a group of friends who are studying a range of difference courses. Plus, of course, it’s easy to get to your morning lectures on time!
