Why not try producing your own unique fabric and surface designs?
You will explore colour, pattern and texture you used to decorate avariety of different surfaces, such as T-shirts, bags, cushions, table linen, blinds, lampshades or wallpaper.
During the 10 evenings you will be given the opportunity to create your own individual prints. You will explore the art of hand-decoration on fabric, by experimenting with a variety of basic printing methods, such as silk screen stencil, lino block printing, and heat transfer, creating your own images and developing them into simple pattern repeats.
All techniques taught can be continued at home with minimal equipment, so this could be the start of an exciting journey into creating your own textile ranges. If you would like to join the craft revival and experiment with the exciting possibilities of pattern and texture afforded by traditional methods such as Shibori (tie dye) and Batik(wax resist), then you will enjoy this course.
Whilst you can purchase a variety of different base fabrics from the course tutor, you may want to bring your own having assessed the suitability for the medium being explored.
There are no entry requirements, only an interest and a desire to develop your print skills.
What you will need to bring: A small piece
of lino, calico, A2 and A3 cartridge paper, craft knife, a notebook
and pen.
Tutor: Noel Holmes
