A Summary of our Prep for HE Courses
Extended Diploma in Art & Design
This is a two-year (level 3) course for students who have
completed their school education to GCSE level (or equivalent) and
who wish to progress to Higher Education within a specialist
environment. It is the equivalent of three A-levels. All students
successfully completing their Extended Diploma at AUCB will be
guaranteed an interview for a Degree course with us.
Awarding Body: Btec/Edexcel
Diploma in Photography
This is an intensive one-year (level 3) course offering a wide range of skills and experience in photography in preparation for a relevant Degree course or for entry into professional practice. All students successfully completing their Diploma in Photography at AUCB will be guaranteed an interview for a Degree course with us.
The course is comprised of photographic units from the Extended
Diploma in Art and Design. Successful students will receive the
award of Diploma in Art and Design (Photography).

Foundation Diploma in Art & Design
This is a one-year course for students who have completed their school education to A-level (or equivalent) and who know they wish to progress to Higher Education but are not yet sure which degree course to choose; or for students who do not yet have the skills, knowledge or necessary portfolio of work to gain a place on their chosen degree course. All students successfully completing their Foundation Diploma at AUCB will be guaranteed an interview for a Degree course with us.
This course may also be studied on a part- time basis over two years.

Year O
This is a preparatory year for students who may have the required A-level qualifications (or equivalent), know which subject area they wish to pursue but who are not yet adequately prepared for entry to the three-year Degree course of their choice. It will be relevant to students who have not yet had an opportunity to prepare an adequate portfolio in their chosen subject or those who have achieved A-level results but not in the relevant subject areas. It is available on a number of University College courses.
