Banyards Landscapes

Garden Design Project

Banyards Ltd of Wimborne, Dorset are professional landscape specialists, members of the Arboricultural Association and British Association of Landscape Industries.

Linking up with BA (Hons) Illustration students at the Arts University College at Bournemouth, Banyard’s sponsored a competition to design a landscaped garden area. Final designs were displayed for judging and the three winners were presented with unique glass paperweights, containing a garden image, donated by Banyards.

Banyard’s installed the winning designs and supplied plants for the garden which has now matured into a popular meeting and relaxing area, known as the Quad Garden, in the grounds of the University College.

ImageXL

ArtsUniversity College at Bournemouth Library : Universal Access by Design

Local print company ImageXL who design and produce large format graphics have linked with the Arts University College at Bournemouth to produce signage that will complete an innovative design project for the AUCB Library.

The new display signs came about thanks to BA (Hons) Graphic Design student, Jason Healey, who graduated from the AUCB in 2003. Jason’s Final Major Project looked at the way individual labelling was used in the Library and he designed a new system that provides colours, to indicate the-course area, and symbols to link courses and areas of book stock A focus group gave such positive feedback that the system has been adopted with funding received from the Government’s Aim Higher, Widening Participation initiative. Students find the user-friendly signage integrates well and is accessible to everyone.
