Business and Knowledge Transfer Strategy

The Enterprise Unit was established in 2002. Now with the growing momentum of the Enterprise team, the Business and Knowledge Transfer Strategy has identified key elements within the following activities:

  • Develop an infrastructure and internal culture which will support students into employment and support staff in knowledge transfer, to thereby support regional priorities and develop third stream activities
  • Project funding through HEIF3 / ”Higher Impact”, HEROBC and Knowledge Exploitation South West (KESW) delivering business development at the University College, initiating knowledge transfer activities and support. Generation of additional economic activity in the arts, design, media and cultural practice industries of the region is delivered through collaborative events with Business Link, SWRDA, Dorset Chamber, and UKTI
  • Maximising the usage of the Enterprise Pavilion to assist new graduates create viable new businesses and thereby assist with graduate retention within the sub-region - and provide training areas - to offer training and development opportunities to existing SMEs and businesses
  • Offering specialist knowledge transfer advice and training to local SMEs and businesses by identifying through market intelligence the needs of the businesses and presenting market ready solutions
  • Use Arts University College staff and their expertise to inform curriculum development to support employability and graduate retention
  • Establish the University College as a key point of reference for knowledge transfer, training & development and ‘close to market’ research in the cultural and creative industries

Delivery of these elements has been driven by the growing interaction and continued communication with businesses in the local region. Connecting business need to reliable delivery sources both internally and externally to other HEI providers and other business support organisations is raising awareness of the University College’s ability to collaborate effectively with SME businesses.
