Supporting Success
We continue to review our curriculum offer to ensure that, through both mode and subject of study, we are providing opportunities to those from under-represented groups. We note the specific value of a diverse but inclusive community in which collaboration between students, and the application of learning across discipline boundaries, can teach the value of difference. This complementarity is a feature of undergraduate and postgraduate awards at the University College.
Our Learning Strategy promotes flexibility of learning style, and targets the achievement by each learner of his/her potential. This builds on the strategy of student-centred learning which empowers the learner to reach beyond their existing education and knowledge backgrounds.
We also note the potential to focus on diversity through the curriculum, and support the intention of that Strategy to encourage a wider range of engagement through the learning experience. We provide holistic support through a professional Student Services team.
Several initiatives specifically related to the University College’s curriculum offer have been developed to support our aspirations in widening participation and increased access to Higher Education. Access to our specialist courses in the arts design, media and performance can be gained through non-traditional entry routes, provide a variety of progression pathways and are open to a wide range of full and part-time learners.
