Aimhigher
Aimhigher
Aimhigher is a government initiative run by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), with support from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to provide opportunities and raise aspirations for those who are contemplating entering into Higher Education. Aimhigher gives individuals access to the necessary information from which to make effective decisions.
Aimhigher aims to help motivate young people to consider Higher Education as a possibility. While the initiative works with young people from all walks of life, it aims to concentrate on those who are underachieving, lacking in confidence or undecided, yet have the potential to enter Higher Education. Research shows that many such young people come from non-traditional backgrounds, minority groups and the disabled.
The key objectives of Aimhigher are:
- To offer an effective and extensively used entry point that enables prospective students to seek information about Higher Education institutions and courses.
- To offer information and assurance on financial matters to students entering Higher Education, specifically information about financial support and advice.
- To help widen participation in UK Higher Education - and particularly among students from non-traditional backgrounds, minority groups and disabled persons.
Aimhigher funds the Arts University College at Bournemouth to work in the areas of progression partnership with schools and colleges plus vocational progression pathways in community arts, media, design and summer schools.
We deliver a wide range of activities to engage and motivate students and young people to enter Higher Education and to gain qualifications. This will help them to secure employment and lead lives which are financially and socially enriched.
