Equality Analysis
Equality Analysis (EA), formally Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) are an integral part of the specific duties underpinning general duties on public institutions to actively ensure that they are eliminating discrimination and positively promoting equality. These duties are a requirement under the Equality Act (2010). The equality duty covers the following protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. The duty also covers marriage and civil partnerships, but not for all aspects of the duty.
All policy owners at the Arts University College are required to systematically complete the EA process for all the policies/practices/procedures for which they are responsible and to ensure that these are recorded accordingly. EAs need to become a natural part of the University College’s policy making process.
The University College’s Equality Impact Assesmet Process moved forward at a fast pace during Academic Years 2007-09. The report below outlines the context for the process, the University College’s progress over the course of the last year and the processes established and conclusions found in this first cycle of Equality Impact Assessment. Recommendations for the second cycle of the process are detailed at the end of the document.
